Happy New Year to the readers and followers of this blog. I hope my thoughts and investment suggestions have been helpful in 2013. I started with the hopes of helping people discover dividend investing. Most investors are totally unaware of the money that can be easily earned by simply investing in good dividend payers. There is really no need to watch the stock market every day and try to trade. It’s just too tough, trust me!!!
VNR and SDIV have been doing well. And the floating rate securities issues have been providing very good dividends.
The traffic (readers) into GEK has been absolutely enormous. I suggested this General Electric preferred in late September. Right now I am staying away from preferred stocks and suggest you do the same. Owners of GEK should hold, but do not buy more.
On the other hand, LNCO had a terrible year but I suggested you stick with it. And LNCO is now on the rebound. PSEC and GOV are very good core positions. We are always looking at potential candidates and all holdings are listed in ‘Core Portfolio’. (link at the top of this page) Hopefully the central location has made it easier to follow what we are doing.
Going forward watch the ten year interest rates which are approaching 3%. If we go higher, there is a good possibility that we could see a pullback in the markets. This would be a good buying opportunity. So be sure and have your selections in mind. Nothing will happen tomorrow and Friday but by next Tuesday we will be able to make some decisions.
Long term the Fed is keeping short rates at zero for a year. So I remain bullish on our investments thru 2014.

This blog discusses dividend paying investments that I find appropriate for myself…..and for investors seeking dividends and income. I am not an investment professional. You must do your own research before buying any position. All gains or losses that you realize are based on your choices.
